Melissa Rowan is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling from La Salle University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Penn State University. Melissa has also received certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Group Therapy, and Exposure and Response (Ritual) Prevention (ERP).

Melissa has over fifteen years of counseling experience with adolescents, young adults, and adult men and women, assisting them to achieve their own identified goals. Having worked at The Renfrew Center and Penn Foundation, she has extensive experience working in intensive programs for both eating disorders and substance abuse recovery. Melissa also has a strong background in working with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, and struggles navigating major life transitions. Melissa is adept at providing individual therapy, with the ability to include supporting family and loved-ones as needed or requested to best support her clients. Melissa also collaborates with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and dietitians for a comprehensive treatment approach. 

Melissa’s therapeutic approach is strength-based and client-centered, and she believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship to promote healing. Melissa’s main goal is to assist her clients in bringing about positive, desired, and noticeable changes in their lives. Melissa strives to create a genuine, comfortable, and warm environment for her clients in order to assist with the process of change.
